‘Organic Bananas – 1kg

Did you know? Bananas were first introduced to Australia in the 1800s, with the first commercial plantations established in Queensland in the late 19th century. Today, bananas are Australia’s most popular fruit, with Aussies eating more bananas per person than almost anywhere else in the world.

Bananas are grown all year round thanks to Australia’s tropical and subtropical climates, particularly in North Queensland, northern New South Wales, and parts of Western Australia.

The main variety grown here is the Cavendish banana, known for its sweet flavour, creamy texture, and bright yellow skin. They are naturally low in fat, high in fibre, and a great source of potassium—making them the perfect everyday snack for energy and wellbeing.

Storage: Store bananas at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, until they reach your preferred ripeness. To slow the ripening process, place ripe bananas in the fridge—the skin may darken, but the fruit inside stays fresh and firm. For longer storage, peeled bananas can be sliced and frozen, making them perfect for smoothies or baking.

Did you know? Bananas naturally produce ethylene gas, which speeds up the ripening of nearby fruit such as avocados, pears, and apples. That’s why keeping them separate can help control how quickly your other fruit ripens!
